The Stallingborough Power Station with Carbon Capture Plant is proposed for a site off Hobson Way, adjacent to the Humber Estuary, approximately 3.5km east of Stallingborough village.
While the power station itself would be located on this site, the Proposed Development also includes associated infrastructure and connection corridors, and the plan shown in the consultation materials illustrates the full extent of the Proposed Development, not solely the power station site.
For more information, visit page 10 and 11 of the consultation brochure.
To connect the electricity generated at the Stallingborough Power Station to the homes, businesses and public services that need it, we need to connect the power station to the national electricity transmission system.
We are proposing to connect to Grimsby West Substation, approximately 4km from the site. We have presented a route corridor under consideration to make this connection, and we have assessed options to make the connection via a part underground cable and part overhead line (Option 1A) or via an underground cable only (Option 1B). Our preference at this stage is for the electrical grid connection to be an underground cable.
For more information, visit page 16 and 17 of the consultation brochure.
A natural gas pipeline will be needed to supply natural gas to the Stallingborough Power Station from the National Gas transmission system, approximately 12 km away. This would be installed below ground using a combination of construction techniques. The supply of natural gas is key to how the project generates electricity.
As part of the consultation, we are currently presenting and consulting on two options for the Natural Gas Pipeline Route Corridor, where it connects to the National Gas transmission system.
For more information, visit page 18-21 of the consultation brochure.
Our Preliminary Environmental Information Report (PEIR) sets out how each environmental topic is being assessed, the potential environmental effects of our proposals and the measures we’ll take to reduce any impacts. The PEIR, its supporting appendices and figures, and a Non-Technical Summary are available on our website, and on USB sticks at our deposit locations and in-person consultation events.
For more information, visit page 23-27 of the consultation brochure and our Preliminary Environmental Information Report.
